Warwick SHS, values highly the importance of Music Education to a child’s or adolescent’s development.
Warwick SHS’s Music Program is primarily focussed in the Contemporary genre. However, all styles and genres of music are explored.
There are many skills that students develop in the Classroom Music Program. These include: creativity; listening; teamwork; performing; critical thinking; analysis; appreciation and coordination.
Areas of study in the Music Program include:
- Composition/song writing/arranging
- Performance - learning instruments
- History and Society - genres, styles and cultures
- Music Technology
- Music Industry
- Evaluation and reviews
- Theory - reading and writing music
Music students from Years 8 to 12 participate in concerts and school assemblies and are encouraged to take part in other events throughout the year where they can showcase their talent and newly developed skills.
The Music Program includes instrumental tuition from specialist teachers through the School of Instrumental Music. These teachers come to Warwick SHS once a week to deliver private and/or small group tuition for the following instruments:
- Acoustic and Electric Guitar
- Bass Guitar
